Bulletpoints: Marshall

  • I want to be clear that I'm not trying to burn everything down after a 35-point Ohio State win. There were things to love (The running game as a whole + explosive TDs from Emeka Egbuka and Jeremiah Smith) and things to hate (Horrendous special teams + a sluggish day from the defense.) In a lot of ways, it felt like a vintage Ohio State game under Ryan Day against an overmatched opponent: Comfortable W on the scoreboard, but hard to ignore a lot of slop in the details of the Buckeyes' game. It definitely didn't look like a fired up team coming off a bye:
  • I'm a believer in the idea that well-coached teams tend to look sharp after a week off. It's great that the offense held up their end, but the two other phases of the team didn't in the first half. You can get away with that against a team like Marshall, but it won't fly against any of the better teams on this schedule, or in the postseason.
  • I love watching Quinshon Judkins run. His burst is spectacular, but he also has some serious physicality. Loved the blocking on his 86-yard TD run, too:
That poor safety
  • That play and the stiff arm on his other TD will get all the attention, but this was my favorite Judkins run of the day:

  • The run game in general is just so much better in every facet this season. From Chip Kelly's principles, to the blocking, to the aggression and decisiveness of Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson. Those two combined for 249 yards on 20 carries (12.4). I don't care who you're playing - that's impressive.
