Today: LaDainian Tomlinson vs. UTEP (2000)
RB Respect Month, Day 24: LaDainian Tomlinson vs. UTEP (2000)
Containing LaDainian Tomlinson was a nightmare for any defense, but I'm not sure anyone had a worse time trying than UTEP. In three games against the Miners, Tomlinson ran 95 times for 788 yards (8.2), and 10 touchdowns. Over the course of a 12-game season, that's a 3,152-yard, 40-touchdown average. Comical stuff, and I can't imagine how glad UTEP fans –and every other fanbase in the WAC– were when Tomlinson graduated in 2000.
