After last week's hiatus (sorry about that) hot seat rankings are back!

Hot Seat Rankings: Post-Week Five

1. Billy Napier - Florida (2-2)

Beating Mississippi State followed by a bye was at least enough to get Napier out of the national spotlight for a week. Losing to a UCF team who just got blasted by Colorado at home would erase all of that immediately.

2. Sonny Cumbie - Louisiana Tech (1-3)

Points Louisiana Tech's defense has given up this season, game-by-game:

  • 10 to Nicholls (win)
  • 23 to NC State (loss)
  • 23 to Tulsa - 3 in overtime (loss)
  • 17 to FIU (loss)

Points Louisiana Tech's offense –called by Sonny Cumbie– has scored this season, game-by-game:

  • 23 against Nicholls (win)
  • 20 against NC State (loss)
  • 20 against Tulsa - zero in overtime (loss)
  • 10 against FIU (loss)

You know it's over when a head coach –who's also the offensive coordinator– gives up play-calling:

3. Stan Drayton - Temple (1-4)

I feel bad that I didn't post rankings last week, because Drayton and Temple actually snagged a nice win over Utah State that showcased some of the positives of where they're at. Unfortunately, they had to play Army on Thursday night as a follow-up. Short rest sucks in any scenario, but is particularly dreadful against a service academy offense. Temple gave up 417 yards rushing in a 42-14 loss that pushed Drayton's overall record in Philly to 7-22. Finding a way to beat UConn tomorrow would do wonders for his job security, given that he still hasn't won a road game at the mid-point of his third season. (0-12 in road games overall, 0-8 in conference play.)
